In the lawsuit, video photographer Danny Ramos alleges assault, battery, negligence and violation of civil rights. Ramos and Allred said they were speaking out because West had still not apologized for his behavior, and because other celebrities had spoken out in support of West's actions -- which would seem to encourage others to harm members of the paparazzi. Also "We are concerned that celebrity support for an attack on photographers will increase the risk of harm to them," Allred said, adding her client did no more than exercise his First Amendment rights. Allred cited statements on Twitter by Kirstie Alley, Cher and Kylie Jenner. Allred noted that singer Cher had thanked West on Twitter for "trashing those loathsome parasites who steal our most precious gift, time and privacy." Alley tweeted that it was too bad he didn't whip the photographer's behind. Ramos told reporters Wednesday he was caught off guard by the singer. "When Kanye West attacked me I was in complete shock," he said at a news conference with Allred, known for representing high-profile clients that have included love interests of Tiger Woods as well as a former staffer of San Diego Mayor Bob Filner .

our editor recommends Stan Lee's Chinese Superhero Project Scores 'Enchanted' Producer Bleeding Cool reports that Lee told fans attending his panel at Kim Kardashian leaked photos the convention that he passed up the chance to cameo in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past to attend the convention -- or, as he apparently put it, to not disappoint the fans -- meaning that next year's X-flick will be the second in a row in which he hasn't made an appearance (he wasn't in this year's The Wolverine either, as the Australia shooting locale was deemed too far to travel). Lee's Marvel movie cameos started with the original X-Men movie in 2000, with the co-creator of the Marvel Universe going on to appear in all three Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, both Hulk and The Incredible Hulk, the two Fantastic Four movies, all three Iron Man movies, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and last year's Avengers; you've seen him selling hotdogs and sunglasses, delivering mail and judging beauty contests, amongst many other things (He's also been mistaken for Hugh Hefner and Larry King by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in a nice play on the cameo conceit). RELATED: Stan Lee, Nathan Fillion Honored at Geekie Awards In fact, it's only been the X-Men movies that have seemed to have trouble keeping Lee in the picture. After launching his cameo career with X-Men, he skipped X2: X-Men United before reappearing in X-Men: The Last Stand. He's been absent from every X-Men movie since, oddly enough, skipping X-Men Origins: Wolverine (would that we'd all followed his example) and X-Men: First Class.

Movies Print From buzzy films that flopped to the emergence of some unlikely box-office draws, the summer movie season had a few tricks up its sleeve this year. Here are some of the more unexpected curve balls that came out of Summer 2013: 18. 'Only God Forgives' Has No 'Drive' (Photo: Radius TWC) The highly anticipated second collaboration of director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Ryan Gosling ended up being a disappointment. The mean, spare, and astonishingly violent "Only God Forgives" inspired boos at Cannes earlier in the year and didn't fare too well when it arrived stateside in limited release on July 19. It looks pretty, sure, but so does "Drive," and you can watch that over and over on Netflix Streaming. Pagination

The roles of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Reagan are played by famous actors who are a distraction, however well they portray them. They are often shown in their most famous garb, and represented with their various well known and storied traits, as with Kennedy's pained back or Johnson's beloved beagle dogs. The recognizability of the actors, like John Cusack as Nixon and Robin Williams as Eisenhower, all but grind the movie to a halt. The two exceptions to this are James Marsden as John Kennedy and Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan. Marsden shows a compassion and authenticity and transforms himself even without looking a thing like Kennedy, and Jane Fonda disappears completely into Nancy. She is the most inspired cameo in the film. Ultimately, if the subject of how civil rights has changed America and the opposing ways in which Americans did it is of interest to you, the questions this movie raises and the discussions it will prompt makeLee Daniels' The Butlerinteresting enough to see. There are missed opportunities and weak moments in the script to be sure, but not enough to discount it, and the stellar acting by Forest Whitaker is what will make this movie memorable longterm. For those of you who will supportLee Daniels' The Butler, Warner Brothers' shame is your gain.

Chris D'Amico ( Christopher Mintz-Plasse ) is leaving behind his identity as superhero Red Mist to assume the mantle of the world's first super-villain, with a new name unprintable here. As in the first film, Moretz and her character of Hit-Girl largely overwhelm the rest of the film. Wadlow's main addition to the story is expanding the attention given to the adventures of Mindy in the land of other young women, grappling with other people's ideas of normal. Among the film's best moments is when young Mindy, trying to fit in, sees a boy-band video for the first time, unleashing a wave of hormonal responses that Moretz captures perfectly. SPECIAL REPORT: The culture of violence in entertainment The adventures of Hit-Girl as a regular person are far more compelling than those of Kick-Ass as a superhero. (Though even her story line is marred by a cheap, unnecessary joke in which a mean girl is made to evacuate her body from both ends at once.) As in the first film, it also doesn't help that as a performer Taylor-Johnson is a charisma-free zone. Wadlow also expands slightly the role of amateur superhero Colonel Stars and Stripes, played by Jim Carrey .

A scene from the film "Abandoned Mine." (Gravitas Ventures / March 6, 2009) Also By Robert Abele August 15, 2013, 2:35 p.m. "Abandoned Mine" is all that its title promises: something generic and empty, with the sense that much has been left behind. As adolescents in movies like these are wont to do on Halloween , five of them from a small farming community venture into a supposedly haunted, long-disused mountain vein for kicks and giggles. What ensues are endlessly banal exchanges, lots of flashlights shone on rock walls, walking, getting scared, and joking around, all of which leaves you to wonder if anything is ever going to happen to warrant your precious moviegoing time. (It's hard to shake the notion that naming the young performers cursed with acting this out two of whom are female and three male would somehow add insult to the injury of having been in "Abandoned Mine.")

"The scariest thing for me was that I wanted ... people to see my portrayal of him and see it as a portrayal that was honoring him and being honest about some of the flaws that he had. That was really a daunting task." Of course, Kutcher came to the part with a genetic advantage: The actor, who also stars on CBS' "Two and a Half Men," shares a resemblance to the late Jobs, who died in October 2011. But according to director Stern, Kutcher didn't try to rely on just his looks. "Ashton walked into the first meeting already channeling Steve Jobs," he told CNN. "He had the mannerisms; he'd studied hundreds of hours.

He was a walking encyclopedia on politics and politicians, Mears said. He worked the telephones before they were cellphones and the opening usually was pretty much the same: What do you hear? His style of political reporting was an art form. Sadly, it is becoming a lost art. Germond, Witcover and Mears were among the Boys on the Bus chronicled in Timothy Crouses seminal account of reporters in the 1972 presidential election. Later in his career, Germond became arguably the best known of the Boys, thanks to his irascible appearances on The McLaughlin Group, where he offered a liberal alternative to conservative host John McLaughlin and fellow panelist Robert D. Why Did Apple Buy Let Us Speculate

The deal, which was first reported by VentureBeat , is more proof of consolidation in the social TV space, but it also goes to show that Apple is serious about TV. created an iPad app to discover movies and TV show episodes on Netflix, iTunes and Amazon, using data from social networks to recommend new titles to watch. The service shut down in May, with a message posted on the website informing users that all of their data had been deleted. Subscribe to Matcha isnt the only one to try and fail in the social TV space: Screentribe,Twelevision,Otherscreen, BeeTV, Philo and a bunch of others all threw the towel over the last year or so. Thats in part because one can only have so many Facebook-connected TV guides, but in part also because a companion app really cant solve the fundamental problems of TV, including those exploding pay TV costs that consumers are increasingly unwilling to pay.
